Pneumatic Control Valve: No Response - Causes & Fixes

There are many causes for the malfunctions of pneumatic control valves, so corresponding troubleshooting methods should be adopted to effectively extend the service life of pneumatic valves.

Causes of Malfunction: Pneumatic Valve Receives Input Signal but Fails to Actuate

1. Actuator malfunction

2. Bent or broken valve stem

3. Detached valve core

4. Valve core seized in the bushing or valve seat

5. Clogged constant throttle orifice of the amplifier in the positioner

Troubleshooting Methods for Pneumatic Control Valves

1. Inspect the actuator and replace it immediately if damaged

2. Replace the valve stem

3. Reinstall the valve core

4. Check the coaxiality of the valve shaft and reinstall it

5. Remove impurities from the constant throttle orifice with fine copper wire
